Sustainability

At Building Impressions we are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our operations.

We aim to lessen our environmental impact by utilising resources more efficiently and have a strong focus on recycling, renewables and reducing our carbon footprint.

Energy

We recognise that the role we play is an important one in reducing carbon emissions and addressing climate change. Building Impressions is focused on reducing our energy consumption and transitioning towards using more renewable energy.

To reduce the energy we consume we have installed LED lighting to our premises in Nunawading which uses 75% less energy than halogen globes and 55% less energy than fluorescent tubes.

We are also generating renewable power by installing a solar system. This system consistently generates power which is fed back into the grid and has substantially reduced both the cost and reliance on traditional energy sources.

Building Waste Recycling

Building Impressions has a significant focus on recycling building materials to ensure that recyclable items are separated and directed to the appropriate recycling centres. We actively recycle the following items:

  • Metals

  • Concrete

  • Cardboard

  • Unused Paint

Our business also donates new and reusable building materials to Habitat for Humanity through their ReStore social enterprise.

Office & Consumer Waste Recycling

As a business we have introduced a number of recycling initiatives some of which have the dual benefit of also raising funds for charity. These include:

  • Bread Tags recycled to raise funds to purchase wheelchairs for disadvantaged people

  • Milk Bottle Tops recycled to manufacture prosthetic limbs for kids

  • Batteries

  • Paper & Cardboard

  • Recyclable Office Waste
